The Halfpipe runner-up will be the head of the Spanish delegation at the Winter Universiade

The High Sports Council (CSD) confirmed that Queralt Castellet will be the flag-bearer of the Spaniards during the Winter Universiade Granada 2015. Castellet, snowboarder, 24, born in Sabadell, was recently proclaimed World Champion for the discipline of halfpipe in Kresichberg, Austria. This fact has turned into a historical attainment, as this is the first time that a Spanish medal has been won in this competition.

According to Miguel Cardenal, President of the CSD, with the winning of the silver medal in Austria `she finally has given the results of her talent.´ During a press conference held on January 19th, Cardenal explained that he asked the athlete to be the flag-bearer of the Spanish delegation for the Universiade, a fact that was finally confirmed.

Castellet participated in three Winter Olympic Games – Turin 2006, Vancouver 2010 and Sochi 2014. In her Olympic debut in Turin she was placed in the 26th position. Four years later in Vancouver, she was classified in the third position, but she suffered an injury that make her not continue in the competition. She was then placed in the 12th position. In the Sochi competition she reached the 11th place.
