Sierra Nevada is ready for the Alpine Skiing, Snowboard and Freestyle competitions
The Andalusian ski resort has been thoroughly prepared to host the Universiade top level competitions.
The International Ski Federation (FIS) authorized the Universiade Track for all Alpine Skiing disciplines last season. An 800 meters distance of hard snow a very technical track with numerous changes that will demand the best of each athlete due to the varied orography. The beginning of the Universiade track allows the athletes to speed up, in the middle of the track they have to be very careful due to the terrain. Therefore there is no place for mistakes since athletes should have studied this track beforehand.
FIS Technical Delegate, Markus Malsiner, reported that last year for the 2014 Alpine Skiing World Cup the ski track was already in perfect conditions so he predicted that athletes of the Winter Universiade Granada 2015, will make a spectacular performance in this track.
This ski track was especially designed to make easier the attendance of skier spectators to the ski alpine competitions and therefore facilitate the practice of skiing from the Borreguiles to the Pradollano areas.
In fact, the ski tracks Águila, the Maribel's tunnel and part of the El Río will be the three connections between Borreguiles – Pradollano, which will be permanently open during the Universiade.
As for the Snowpark Sulayr, it will held three different disciplines of snowboard and Freestyle Skiing. We can find here the longest jumps line and modules in Europe where it is also possible to link 50 modules (out of the 60 modules it has) in a single downhill. It joins together 4 sectors in line with 2, 2 kilometers of high level length. Moreover, in sector 3 there are snow jumps of 8, 10 and 12 meters.
