Granada 2015 takes the witnes of the Universiade

The deputy mayor of Granada, Juan Antonio Mérida, sports council deputy, Francisco Rodriguez, and the president of the University of Granada, Francisco González Lodeiro, picked up the flag in the closing ceremony of Trentino 2013. Joining them was the Granada delegation, led by the manager of the Universiade, Aurelio Ureña. The event took place after the men's Ice Hockey Final, attended by over two thousand people.

According to Juan Antonio Mérida, the witness is taken to keep working and "to improve, if possible, the organization.  We are checking that organizational and sporting level is very high", and states that this is an opportunity for Granada "absolutely".

For his part, the president of the University believes that it is an event of great interest, well organized and followed. "We see that the level is very high, perhaps in winter sports is the same level as Olympics."

The gesture of the transfer of flag gave way to the cultural program. The first performance was starred by the dancer Paula Marañés, whose Spanish dance won the cheers of the public. 

During the two weeks of the event, the Grenadian delegation had a busy schedule in order to analyze in detail each and every one of the sports events and all aspects related to the organization of the Universiade.

In terms of impact, Trentino Universiade took 500 hours of live television broadcast, 80 at Eurosport and 75 at RAI. The website of the organization recorded a million page views. In total, there were 500 accredited journalists and media staff .

Russia won the medal table with 46 medals, followed by Poland (23) and South Korea (24). On the Spanish side, the only gold medal was achieved by Ruben Verges in halfpipe snowboard.
